Project Coordinator
Location: T3 (Denver, CO) OR 401/414 Minneapolis, MN OR Marshall Ops Center OR Center Point
Work Schedule: Onsite 3 days per week (Hybrid)
Duration: Long-term contract (multi-year project) – Immediate start
Travel: Occasional travel (approximately 2 times per year) Position Overview
Xcel Energy is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Project Coordinator to support a Lead Project Manager in executing and maintaining governance frameworks and core project coordination activities across a long-term, multi-year initiative.
This role is ideal for a candidate who demonstrates strong commitment, financial acumen, organizational discipline, and a positive, growth-oriented mindset. The Project Coordinator will receive structured guidance and training from an on-site strategic vendor partner and will have the opportunity to build long-term project management capabilities within a large enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities Project Coordination & Governance Support- Support the Lead Project Manager in executing established program governance processes
- Assist in maintaining project schedules, timelines, deliverables, and documentation
- Participate in project meetings and capture detailed notes, action items, and follow-ups
- Ensure adherence to internal standards, processes, and reporting frameworks
- Assist in the development and tracking of project budgets
- Monitor actuals vs. forecast and support variance analysis
- Contribute to financial reporting and forecasting activities
- Track project-related expenses and resource allocations
- Help monitor personnel assignments, materials, and financial resources
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records
- Develop and maintain reporting dashboards using tools such as Power BI
- Organize and maintain project documentation, contracts, reports, and meeting materials
- Ensure version control and documentation accuracy
- Coordinate communications between internal teams and vendor partners
- Collaborate with internal business teams and external vendor partners
- Identify potential project risks or issues and support solution development
- Participate in role‑specific training to strengthen PM competencies
- Strong team collaboration mindset and professional commitment
- Positive attitude with a strong willingness to learn and grow
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and MS Project)
- Experience or comfort working with Power BI and other reporting tools
- Solid understanding of financial concepts including budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking
- Critical thinking skills and ability to contribute to problem-solving discussions
