The Purchasing Coordinator position incorporates the Purchasing and Material Planning functions under the supervision of the Supply Chain Director and/or with direction from senior purchasing staff. This position works directly to support sales and operations.

Essential Functions
  • Adheres to purchasing and inventory control policies, processes and procedures
  • Purchases to maintain best supplier terms, pricing and delivery as directed
  • Communicates daily with suppliers
  • Expedites when needed and verify order acceptance
  • Keeps supplier, part, cost, purchase order records up to date
  • Resolves supplier discrepancies with quantity, cost, quality
  • Remedies defective or unacceptable goods or services on a timely basis
  • Keeps Senior Buyer in the loop of issues that will affect cost, quality, and delivery
  • Assists with database maintenance
  • Coordinates the purchase and delivery of goods made by Nystrom partners
  • Follows up on shipments due from Nystrom partners
  • Reports on Nystrom partners order status
  • Assists with ordering indirect materials via Kanban
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • One or more years of Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Critical thinker with the ability to multitask effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Enthusiastically embraces and promotes continuous improvement
  • Detail orientated with emphasis on follow up in a fast-paced environment
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Excel
