Overview

As our Employee Health & Benefits Compliance Consultant on the Employee Health & Benefits team, you’ll be responsible for assisting the Compliance Center of Excellence (COE) with the delivery of compliance assistance, education, and training with respect to federal, state, and local health and welfare benefits law to our Employee Health & Benefits (EH&B) practice and its clients and prospects.

A Compliance Consultant in the COE will address a wide variety of ad hoc compliance questions, assist with writing and peer reviewing articles and presentations, participate in client seminars and other public speaking engagements, and participate in the development of intellectual capital for use by MMA, its clients, and prospects. This position can be located anywhere in the U.S.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include delivering compliance assistance, education, and training related to health and welfare benefits law and contributing to the development of intellectual capital for MMA and its clients and prospects. You will assist with writing and peer reviewing articles and presentations, and participate in client seminars and public speaking engagements as part of the COE.

We’d love to meet you if your professional track record includes these skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from an accredited college or university or similarly recognized educational institution.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school in the United States.
  • At least 3 years of experience focusing on U.S. health and welfare benefits law, specifically including ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and the Affordable Care Act.
  • General knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of employer-provided group health and fringe benefit programs.
  • Able to work effectively on a team of compliance subject matter experts.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of statutory, regulatory, and other related technical guidance and material.
  • Able to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions with support from senior COE staff.
  • Able to draft intellectual capital and business correspondence for laypersons with support from senior COE staff.
  • Able to participate in the presentation of information and responses to questions in both group and one-on-one settings.
  • Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction.
  • Effective time management skills, including the ability to prioritize and organize own workload.
  • Strong relationship builder and partner to the business.
  • Must be able to work remotely using VPN access from home or while traveling.
