Job DescriptionHennepin County District Court invites qualified applicants for a full-time Court Operations Lead worker I position within the Family Division. This is a diverse, professional environment that promotes equity for all court staff and court customers. This position leads the Protective Orders Team, which consists of ten Court Operations Associates and one Court Operations Specialist. The Court Operations Lead worker I performs highly advanced Protective Order case updating such as Orders for Protection, Harassment Restraining Orders, and Extreme Risk Protection Orders under the general supervision of the Court Operations Supervisor.
The Lead worker I serves as a division leader and positive role model by demonstrating exceptional interpersonal communication, technical skills, initiative, and motivation in contributing to the district’s mission, vision, and values. Work requires the use of independent judgment, application of specialized clerical knowledge, and comprehensive understanding of court operations and procedures. This position provides backup, performing some of the same duties as lower-level classifications as needed.
Additionally, as a leader within the division, this position may assist with the work and leadership of the other teams within Family Court Administration.
This AFSCME-represented position is classified as a Court Operations Lead worker I and is assigned to the Family Division located in downtown Minneapolis at the Family Justice Center on 110 S. 4th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55401. The core hours for this position is 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday. This is a hybrid position working on-site and remotely according to business needs.
Example of Duties:
Act as Primary technical and Procedural Resource for District Court and Partnering Agency Staff:
Serve as first contact for troubleshooting problems and assist staff with challenging case processing and customer service responsibilities on the telephone and via email; monitor phone calls for customer service quality assurance.
Oversee implementation of new/revised policies and procedures in the division by providing training and support to staff; recommend improvements in procedures and trainings on new policies and procedures.
Analyze, interpret, compose, and process complex documents and orders.
- Develop training schedules for employees; provide initial and ongoing procedural and court information system training to new and existing staff for both courtroom and office-related functions; draftand maintain procedure manuals and training materials for all job assignments.
- Monitor daily/weekly reports for errors and incomplete data.
- Review employee work for accuracy and provide coaching and training as needed to assist staff in meeting performance standards; monitor progress of staff training and work performance; inform management of work progress, personal issues, and backlogs; provide input to division supervision for staff evaluation related to performance achievements and issues.
Fulfill Administrative Responsibilities:
- Monitor eFiling and SharePoint workflow queues for case processing and efficiencies.
- Maintain and distribute monthly staff schedule and make day-to-day independent decisions on necessary adjustments to staff assignments based on coverage needs and workload priorities.
- Monitor general case processing guidelines, ensuring that procedural/legislative changes are being followed.
- Coordinate, attend, facilitate and take minutes for team and committee meetings.
- Perform court clerical duties to familiarize yourself with changes in case processing in all Family Court, Orders for Protection, Harassment Restraining Order, and Extreme Risk Protection Order case types.
Perform daily financial balancing and deposit duties.
- Perform advanced and urgent court operations work under limited supervision.
- Handle complex customer interactions, including situations requiring clarification, problem-solving, or de-escalation, while providing guidance and support to staff
