The work you'll do is more than just a job. This posting is for intermittent positions, requiring an irregular schedule as the needs of the agency require. Current State of Minnesota employees will not be considered for concurrent appointments at this time due to overtime considerations and the irregular work schedule requirements of these positions.
Two intermittent, day‑shift positions will be filled by consideration of applicants to this posting. The work schedule will vary based on business needs, and these positions are initially not eligible for insurance benefits. Under the direction of the Scheduling Supervisor, both positions will assist in the operation of scheduling for the Nursing Department of the Minnesota Veterans Home Minneapolis. Incumbents are accountable and responsible for the product on and maintenance of both Master and Daily staff schedules.
Responsibilities- Provide clerical support to Nursing Management and Scheduling offices.
- Generate accurate Nursing employee schedules that provide adequate staffing levels to meet the needs of the agency.
- Process employee schedule requests.
- Document employee attendance, leave requests, and overtime by making changes in scheduling software and communicating changes with nursing supervisors.
- Document changes to employee assignments in scheduling software as directed by nursing management.
- Knowledge of data entry procedures and systems, such as Microsoft Office or similar data entry systems sufficient to produce forms, reports, and general correspondence.
- Skill in database management sufficient to enter and retrieve data from a staffing/scheduling software.
- Skill in customer service sufficient to provide prompt and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through email and other written or electronic correspondence.
- Experience with staffing and scheduling employees.
- Experience using an electronic scheduling/staffing software.
- Knowledge of collective bargaining unit agreements sufficient to resolve basic scheduling questions.
This position requires successful completion of the following:
• A Minnesota Department of Human Services background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s). When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
• A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x‑ray) is required prior to employment.
• Employment reference checks will be conducted on all finalists. This may include a review of documentation related to job performance and contact with the applicant's former employer(s).
