Customer Account Specialist (Administrative)

Customer Account Specialist | YMCA Association | $16.80-$22.40/hr | Full-Time At a glance

The YMCA is seeking a Customer Account Specialist to support billing operations and member account services for the Association. This full-time role includes opportunities for professional development, a full suite of available benefits, and a free family Y membership!

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $16.80 - $22.40 per hour. Pay is determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional benefits and earned time off vary by part-time or full-time status.

In-Person Attendance Requirement

This position requires regular attendance at in-person meetings—weekly, monthly, and occasionally on short notice. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance and be able to adjust their schedule as needed to support onsite collaboration.

In-person training is required and typically lasts two weeks.

Job Summary

The Customer Account Specialist supports the YMCA's mission by guiding members, participant families, and team members through the billing process. Responsibilities include importing and exporting data from our point-of-sale systems related to billing, reporting, account receivables, and third-party billing communication. This role also maintains records, files, and cash receipts; prepares daily deposits, documents, and reports; communicates with members and internal teams;

and performs general administrative duties.

2. Essential Functions
  • Provide premier customer service to members, participants, and YMCA team members.
  • Provide reports and administrative support to branch, department, or program area and build and maintain positive relationships with team members and participants families.
  • Manage accounts receivables for the Association.
  • Act as liaison with county and other third party agencies for all child care programs and camps.
  • Prepare and supply administrative and financial reporting.
  • Process Personal Pricing (financial assistance) for child care families by supporting our mission to those in need.
3. Relationships

This position reports to the Accounts Billing and Receivable Manager or Customer Account Team Lead. The incumbent interacts regularly with members, participants, and team members. The incumbent has no budgetary or supervisory responsibilities.

4. Qualifications Required:
  • Minimum of two (2) years customer service experience
  • Demonstrated data processing skills
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task
  • Ability to process a large volume of work
  • Knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must be organized and have strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse customer population
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to make decisions, set priorities, and work as a team
  • Ability to work with complex accounts and highly confidential information
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
Preferred:
  • Bilingual (Spanish, Russian, Somali and Hmong)
  • Experience working with county/third party agencies
  • Experience with web site administration
  • Accounts Receivable experience
5. Work Conditions
  • Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to travel locally for occasional meetings.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
6. Additional Notes
