CLERGY ASSISTANT & PROGRAM MANAGER
About UsTemple Israel is a Reform synagogue serving 2,000 member families - one of the ten largest Reform Jewish congregations in the United States, and the first large synagogue in the country to be led by a female Senior Rabbi. This dual-role position provides:
- High-leveladministrative and strategic support to our Associate Rabbis, who oversee Temple Israel’s program, engagement, and education functions.
- Support as a collaborative team member within the larger clergy and administrative support structure. This includes providing occasional support to other clergy or filling in at the front desk as needed, especially when another assistant is out of the office.
- This is afully in-person rolebased in our historic synagogue in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis.
- This role is anticipated to follow a mostly Sunday-Thursday schedule when school is in session (fall-spring), and a Monday-Friday schedule during the summer and school breaks. Sundays are typically a half-day.

- Excellent interpersonal skills; comfortable interacting one-on-one, on the phone, and in small or large groups.
- Proactive,organized, and adaptable to changing needs and priorities.
- Outstandingwritten and verbal communication skills.
- Strong judgement and discretion with confidential information.
- Collaborative team player with a service, member-focused mindset.
- Tech-savvyand systems-oriented. Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, and familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM systems is preferred, along with a willingness to regularly adapt to evolving technology. Experience or interest in social media is a plus.
- Comfortablebalancing both logistical and relational aspects of synagogue life.
- Familiarity with Jewish customs and synagogue operations, or willingness to learn.
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Associate Rabbis, managing complex and dynamic calendars, preparing for meetings and events, and supporting follow-up communications.
- Assist with pastoral care tracking, clergy team coordination, and special projects.
- Serveas a primary point of contact for the Associate Rabbis, triaging requests, and providing timely and appropriate responses.
- Develop and maintain systems for task management, project tracking, and CRM (Salesforce) data entry to support rabbinic work.
- Collaborate with the broader administrative team to ensure seamless support for senior leadership.
- Support the logistics, scheduling, and communication needs of adult education classes, guest speakers, and major congregational events, in coordination with the Program & Adult Education Director and Associate Rabbis.
- Develop and implement follow-up systems for new member engagement.
- Manageroom reservations, materials preparation, registration tracking, and basic hospitality for programs, classes and other events.
- Provideproject management and administrative support for ongoing programs such as (but not limited to) social justice initiatives, young adult programming and holiday programs.
- Coordinatevolunteers and develop systems for volunteer engagement.
- Communicate with partners on scheduling and event support.
- Utilize our CRM, Salesforce, to track life cycle events, program participation, generate reports, and run regular correspondence for clergy (e.g., acknowledgments for discretionary gifts). On-the-job Salesforce training will be provided.
