In addition to the standard tasks of a Box Office Student Worker, this position assists with coordinating student staff and ushers, ticket sales, and running of front‑of‑house operations for events managed by the Department of Fine & Performing Arts. Work locations include Pfeiffer Hall, Wentz Concert Hall, the Theatre at Meiley‑Swallow Hall, and Madden Theatre.
Responsibilities- Assist with onboarding new box office student workers—training, conducting secondary interviews, and other related tasks.
- Compile the desk shift schedule and implement it into Sling as instructed by management.
- Serve as the Day of Show point‑person to other student workers and to patrons.
- Coordinate and communicate with volunteer ushers professionally, arranging sign‑ups and emailing announcements or reminders.
- Process and sell tickets for performances through the online ticketing system, in person, on the phone, or via online orders.
- Interact with event patrons in a professional manner.
- Contribute to team goals and initiatives by attending student trainings, working collaboratively on projects, and assisting department staff as needed.
- Prepare for performing arts events by setting up will‑call, ticket sales, usher sign‑ins, and/or venue set‑up.
- Attend and assist with the coordination of monthly in‑service meetings to communicate with department staff about programming, season updates, changes, and other important employment information.
- Open and close the box office during appropriate shifts and for performances.
- Currently employed as a North Central College Box Office Student Worker.
- Have completed at least one year in the position of North Central College Box Office Student Worker.
- Ability to deliver a high level of professionalism and customer service.
- Computer proficiency is necessary, along with excellent attention to detail.
- Available to work some night and weekend hours to accommodate the performance schedule (usually a minimum of 2–3 events per month). Summer availability is preferred, though not required.
