Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, hybrid role based in Minneapolis, MN. The Property Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of financial data for multiple commercial properties. This role supports monthly accounting close processes, reconciliations, tenant ledger activity, and year-end expense recoveries, while providing assistance with audits, internal controls, and special projects as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of all financial data and reporting for multiple properties.
- Prepare monthly journal entries to ensure income, expenses, assets, and liabilities are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
- Coordinate the monthly financial close process, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Prepare and distribute monthly property financial reports.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations, provide supporting documentation, and resolve reconciling items promptly.
- Apply daily cash receipts to tenant ledgers in accordance with established procedures.
- Support daily, weekly, and monthly accounts payable processes, including inquiries and issue resolution.
- Assist with lease administration, including data entry and record maintenance.
- Manage the annual year-end reconciliation process, including CAM billings, CPI increases, and other expense recoveries, in compliance with tenant lease agreements.
- Provide support for internal and external property audits.
- Assist with the implementation and documentation of internal controls as directed.
- Perform special projects and other related responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university, with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- Minimum of 1–2 years of accounting, finance or related professional experience.
- Previous commercial real estate accounting experience is preferred.
- Experience with Yardi real estate accounting software is preferred.

- Strong knowledge of Financial Statements and Financial Reporting
- Proficiency in Accounting, Finance, and performing Journal Entries
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Prior experience in real estate or healthcare-related accounting is a plus
