Technical Accounting Manager – Government Contracts

$145,000–$165,000 Base + Equity
This is a high-visibility leadership role within a growing manufacturing company that operates in a government contracting environment. You’ll play a key role in strengthening financial infrastructure during an exciting growth phase.

Technical Accounting & Compliance- Research and apply US GAAP, FAR, and CAS to complex accounting matters
- Prepare technical accounting memos (indirect cost allocations, contract modifications, revenue recognition)
- Monitor changes in federal regulations and lead implementation efforts
- Support incurred cost submissions, allowable/unallowable cost analysis, and contract closeouts
- Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting and government compliance
- Own the General Ledger and Balance Sheet
- Lead month-end close (cash, AR/AP, accruals, reconciliations)
- Oversee financial statement preparation and audit-ready schedules
- Review journal entries and reconciliations
- Ensure accurate coding of expenses and revenue in compliance with internal and federal standards
- Prepare monthly management reports and variance analyses
- Support budgeting and forecasting
- Manage annual audit process and external auditor relationships
- Manage indirect rate structures and cost pools (CAS compliance)
- Oversee billing, revenue recognition, and cost allocations for government contracts
- Maintain audit-ready documentation for DCAA, DCMA, and oversight bodies
- Support regulatory audits and incurred cost submissions
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA (Active or Inactive) preferred
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong background in government contracting and technical accounting
- Public accounting experience highly preferred
- Experience leading month-end close and internal reporting
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP, FAR, CAS, and federal cost principles
- ERP experience (Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Proven leadership and strong communication abilities
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable in a scaling environment
- Base salary: $145,000–$165,000 (based on experience and qualifications)
