Controller, Accounting, Accounting Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to join a dynamic nonprofit organization based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

This role offers the opportunity to oversee financial operations while contributing to the organization's community-driven mission. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in nonprofit accounting and a proven ability to manage financial processes efficiently.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee all aspects of the organization's financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations.

- Manage the month-end close process, including preparing financial statements and reconciling accounts.

- Supervise and mentor one team member, supporting their growth and ensuring effective collaboration.

- Handle full-cycle accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll management.

- Utilize Quick Books to maintain accurate financial records and streamline reporting processes.

- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and practices.

- Collaborate with leadership to create and manage budgets that align with organizational goals.

- Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.

- Assist with the transition to a new office space, ensuring financial resources are allocated appropriately.

- Work closely with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and ensure transparency. Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably within a nonprofit organization.

- Proficiency in Quick Books and other accounting software.

- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and practices.

- Demonstrated ability to manage month-end close processes and prepare accurate financial statements.

- Experience with full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.

- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple priorities effectively.

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide actionable financial insights.

- Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise and develop team members.
