Tekberry is seeking an experienced and highly detail-oriented Senior Design Drafter to support the Moog Military Aircraft Group at our client Avionics vertical. This role focuses on creating and maintaining detailed design data and engineering drawings that fully document air vehicle avionics systems for military and aviation applications.
The Senior Design Drafter will report to the Engineering Manager and work onsite at our Avionics in Mineral Wells, TX. This position collaborates closely with design and systems engineering teams to refine avionics layouts and interfaces, ensure compliance with aerospace regulations and standards, and verify that design deliverables meet customer and certification requirements.

Job Overview
The Senior Design Drafter plays a critical role in translating engineering concepts, specifications, and system requirements into precise, compliant 2D and 3D CAD drawings. This role supports avionics system documentation for Special Mission, Military & Defense, Military Trainer, Business, and General Aviation platforms.
The ideal candidate is a self-directed technical drafter with extensive aerospace experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to independently develop complete design packages from incomplete or evolving requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Drafting & CAD Design
- Produce detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings and CAD models using Solid Works from sketches, specifications, and 3D data.
- Develop wiring diagrams, schematics, part drawings, assembly drawings, and installation drawings for avionics systems.
- Maintain drawing templates, title blocks, and drafting tools specific to aerospace CAD projects.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned projects and deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace drawing and quality standards, including AS9100
, ASME Y14.5 (GD&T), and internal drafting conventions. - Verify that all design data aligns with applicable aerospace regulatory requirements and customer specifications.
- Participate in design reviews and support certification activities to minimize rework and non-conformances.
- Create and maintain revision-controlled drawing packages within a PDM/PLM system.
- Support BOM creation and parts lists
, including standard hardware and vendor-sourced components with accurate part numbers and specifications. - Maintain configuration accuracy across design documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with design, systems, and manufacturing engineers to clarify design intent and resolve fit, form, and function issues.
- Incorporate feedback from drawing reviews and engineering change activities.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Support vendor coordination for dimensional and functional specifications as needed.
- Present design results and substantiate assumptions, constraints, and analyses when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support engineering operations.
- Minimum of 10 years of related design drafting experience
. - Minimum of a two-year degree in Drafting, CAD Technology, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency with Solid Works for 2D and 3D design.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal technical input and develop incomplete requirements into full design packages.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, drafting standards, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong knowledge of aerospace design standards and regulatory requirements
. - Excellent attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Experience coordinating with vendors on dimensional and functional specifications.
- Experience presenting design results and supporting technical decision-making.
- Familiarity with avionics systems and aerospace certification environments.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
