- Completed ICS course or pre-incident command review
- Have good leadership skills
- Not subject to formal performance improvement actions, nor have any live disciplinary sanctions
- Discussed the opportunity with your Line Manager
- Live or work within a 5‑minute response to the Station
- Whilst it is desirable, it is not essential to have attended a Leading Others Assessment Centre.

From 1 April 2024, we are introducing development rates of pay for any new individuals moving into a development or an acting‑up role. These pay rates are set out by the National Joint Council.

You will also need to detail how you meet the following essential requirements of the role:

The selection process will consist of an initial shortlisting process followed by an interview.
