Relief Support Worker

Join Mencap as a Relief Support Worker in Minehead and help build a supportive and inclusive environment for people with learning disabilities.

• Provide day‑to‑day support, including medication reminders, personal care and assistance with daily activities.
• Support individuals in community outings (theatre, cinema, day trips) and drive to Taunton on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
• Care for a small group of 6 residents, providing companionship and emotional support.
• Support one resident to use the hydro pool once a week.
• Maintain accurate records, complete DBS and reference documentation, and contribute to team meetings.

• Passion for supporting people with learning disabilities.
• Excellent communication skills and empathy.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
• Valid driving licence – the role requires you to drive to residents' homes.
• Enhanced DBS check required; suitable references necessary.
• Experience working with learning disabilities is desirable but not required.

• Relief – 4 weeks notice, 24‑hr care coverage.

• Days: 07:00‑22:00
• Sleep‑ins: 22:00‑07:00 (enhanced flat rate £63.70 per night)

• Enhanced £63.70 flat rate for sleep‑in shifts.
