Metal Fab Operator Duties

Read and interpret MF and MFP work orders

Locate and arrange transfer of raw materials to work station areas

Separate or bundle raw materials at work station in preparation for work application

Manual mode saw cut standard raw materials to specified lengths, angle, and/or bevel

Manual mode shear press standard raw materials to specified lengths, angle and/or bevel

Layout and manual mode punch press specified holes or shapes per prints

Layout and drill specified holes per prints

Properly use grinders and basic shop hand tools to finish part fabrication deburring and cleanup

Stage fabricated parts for further processing or transfer to production

Completing documentation for MFP work orders and turning in to shop Admin

Performing basic cleanup and simple maintenance for shop equipment and work area

PLC controlled saw cut raw materials to specified lengths, angle and or bevel

Read and interpret complex mf and mfp work orders

PLC controlled shear press for standard materials and special cases to specified lengths, angle and or bevel

PLC controlled saw cut raw materials to specified lengths angle and or bevel

PLC controlled punch press standard and special case holes or shapes per prints

Layout and cut holes or other shapes using automatic pattern torch and plasma cutter

Use overhead crane for moving raw materials into and out of work station locations

Set up and operate stun gun welder, performing and recording weld quality checks

Assists material handlers with transport of materials to and from work stations

Assists welders with set up of piecework for welding operations

Must be able to bend, stoop, climb ladder, lift, push, pull 50 lbs

Requirements

Job requires wearing personal protective equipment, such as protective eyewear, and steel-toed boots. Ability to operate miscellaneous hand and power tools as required by job.

Requires working for long periods of time in a standing position. Job requires ability to ascend, descend, and work from a ladder. Requires stooping or crouching occasionally. Also requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when transporting welding materials. Job requires lifting 25 lbs. frequently when lifting ladders.

Job requires clarity of vision, with or without corrective lenses. Job requires working in a dusty environment. Also requires good motor skills and hand-eye coordination for accuracy in cutting. Numerical intelligence is required for reading a tape measure and blueprint specifications.
