Position PurposeThe Transportation Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of product shipments from production to the end-user. Here are some of their key responsibilities: planning and supervising shipments, scheduling routes, tracking orders, coordinating, monitoring transportation costs, ensuring compliance, maintaining records. Transportation Managers play a crucial role in the supply chain, ensuring that goods are delivered on time and in good condition.
MajorFunctional Responsibilities
- Ensure that shipments are handled efficiently, safely, and within budget.
- Organize daily and weekly routes for transportation vehicles.
- Use systems like barcodes and tracking software to monitor shipments.
- Ensure proper storage and distribution of products.
- Keep track of expenses to stay within budget.
- Make sure all shipments comply with legal regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of all transportation activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
Required
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Transportation.
Work Experience:
- 5‑7 years related experience.
- 6 months - 1 year supervisory or management experience.
- Several years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field.
- Ability to coordinate complex logistics and plan routes effectively.
- Proficiency in transportation management software and tracking systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with various stakeholders.
- Ability to quickly address and resolve transportation issues.
- Understanding of legal regulations and safety requirements.
