Carmen Schools of Science & Technology (Carmen) is a charter school network in Milwaukee, WI with a mission to graduate all students as critical thinkers and self-directed learners prepared for success in college, meaningful careers, community involvement, and family life. The Carmen Schools network includes five schools with 1,900 students in grades 6th–12th.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Girls Varsity Soccer Head Coach is responsible for leading and developing a competitive, values-driven soccer program that supports student-athlete growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Location: Carmen Schools South/Southeast Campus

  • Plan and lead team practices with an emphasis on skill development, fitness, and team strategy.
  • Lead in-game decisions, including tactics, player positioning, and substitutions.
  • Foster a positive, team-first culture that promotes sportsmanship, accountability, and commitment to the program.

QUALIFICATIONS

The qualifications for this role include:

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of coaching experience at the high school level (head or assistant coach).
  • Strong knowledge of soccer fundamentals, game strategy, and player development.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and positively develop student-athletes.
  • Experience fostering a safe, inclusive, and team-centered environment for high school girls.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Athletic Directors, school staff, and families.
  • Embodying Carmen’s values of Belief, Growth, and Empathy, the coach will cultivate a supportive and inclusive team culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following outlines the essential duties and responsibilities associated with this position:

  • Provide individual feedback to athletes to support ongoing skill development and performance improvement.
  • Follow the practice calendar as scheduled and communicate any practice changes to the campus Athletic Leads.
  • Maintain responsibility for athletes at all times; athletes should never be left unattended.
  • Coordinate with the campus Athletic Leads regarding transportation logistics and communicate any schedule or travel changes to players.
  • Work proactively with the campus Athletic Leads to ensure all players are registered and cleared prior to the first day of practice and through the registration deadline.
  • Maintain consistent and proactive communication with parents, students, school leaders, staff, and campus Athletic Leads regarding schedules, early dismissals, game updates, and important dates, and academic eligibility of the players.
  • Respond to all emails, voicemails, and text messages within 48 business hours.
  • Keep parents and school staff informed of team progress, logistical updates, and upcoming events.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The position will work predominantly Monday – Saturdays depending on the girls soccer season schedule.

COMPENSATION

The head coach will receive a total seasonal stipend of $4,000.
