This position oversees all aspects of the program, including recruitment, retention, training, conditioning, player development, and mentorship of student-athletes. This includes the organization of all men’s soccer operations, compliance, fiscal management, and assistant coach development and assessment.

As a member of the WLC athletics administration team, the Head Men’s Soccer Coach will also assume additional athletic duties outside of men’s soccer. The Director of Athletics and the Head Men’s Soccer Coach will work collaboratively to align these duties with the individual’s skills, experience, and institutional needs.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Serve as Head Men’s Soccer Coach with full responsibility for the organization, coordination, development, operation, and continuous improvement of the WLC Men’s Soccer program, ensuring competitive excellence, student-athlete development, and program efficiency.
  • Attract, recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-quality student-athletes who align with WLC’s mission, with the goal of continuous development and improvement of the men’s soccer program. Consistently maintain a roster of approximately 30 student-athletes and annually execute a recruiting plan to enroll a minimum of 12 incoming freshmen each year.
  • Develop roster depth to support a competitive Varsity Reserve Program.
  • Establish, articulate, and implement the vision for the WLC Men’s Soccer program.
  • Recruit, supervise, develop, and evaluate Assistant Coaches and Graduate Assistants in alignment with departmental goals and the direction set by the Director of Athletics across all WLC sports, contributing to and advancing the mission and ministry of WLC through the intentional development of young men through athletic competition.
  • Monitor academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes, setting clear expectations and serving as a mentor and champion for academic success. Proactively partner with academic support staff to implement action plans that support persistence to graduation, motivated by Christ-centered care, accountability, and mentorship.
  • Maintain discipline and conduct standards that reflect positively on the mission, image and reputation of the WLC Men’s Soccer program and the College. Intentionally integrate spiritual development through collaboration with Campus Pastors, team devotions, spiritual mentorship, and the intentional application of God’s Word as a guide and standard.
  • Provide leadership consistent with departmental standards, institutional priorities, and NCAA Division III philosophy.
  • Plan and administer practices, training sessions, and competitions in compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations, maintaining current NCAA knowledge to ensure full compliance.
  • Coach and develop student-athletes in men’s soccer fundamentals, skills, tactics, and strategies using current best practices in player development.
  • Collaborate with the Strength and Conditioning Coach to ensure student-athletes actively participate in appropriate, sport-specific strength and conditioning programs.
  • Teach Coaching of Soccer (PED course) in collaboration with the women’s soccer coach, providing instruction in soccer theory, skill analysis, drill development, tactics, strategies, and coaching methodologies.
  • Manage all operational, fiscal, budgeting, compliance, and administrative aspects of the men’s soccer program in an organized and fiscally responsible manner.
  • Promote and support the branding and visibility of the WLC Men’s Soccer program and the College through recruiting efforts, community outreach, public speaking, fundraising initiatives, and youth and prospect camps.
  • Educate and ensure all coaches and student-athletes adhere to NCAA, conference, and College rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate with Enrollment/Admissions, Student Life, and Campus Ministry to support institutional enrollment, retention, and student engagement goals.
