About Courage+

Courage+ provides housing and other programmatic support for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults who have experienced housing insecurity, foster care, or other out-of-home placements. We operate through trauma-informed care and healing; respect, and affirmation of residents’ diverse identities is centered in all we do.

Position Summary

This Direct Care Support role offers the opportunity to be trained and work across two Courage+ programs:

  • Resident Advocate at C2 Apartments
    :
    Support young adults (18-24) in a transitional living program designed to promote independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Youth Development Coordinator at The Courage House
    :
    Provide trauma-informed direct care, supervision, and skill-building support for youth ages 12–17 in a QRTP-licensed, 24/7 operating group home.

While your primary location will be the Courage House
, you will receive cross-training to fill shifts and provide support across both programs as needed.

  • Provide active supervision for youth in QRTP Certifiedgroup home, maintaining safety and program structure.
  • Facilitate daily routines including school attendance, hygiene, chores, meals, and recreational activities.
  • Document incidents and behaviors, administer medications as needed, and provide transportation whether that be through company vehicle or public transit oversight.
  • Support youth in age-appropriate life skills development and fostering the vision of their future and young adult life.
Resident Advocate (C2 Apartments)
  • Supervise young adults living in the transitional apartments, ensuring safety and program regulations.
  • Implement daily schedules and communal living activities.
  • Document resident activities and maintain confidential communication with external providers as needed.
  • Assist residents with life skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and navigating community resources to meet weekly case management goals and program tier progression.
Both Roles
  • Uphold trauma-informed care principles, confidentiality, and agency mission.
  • Build trusting relationships with residents to minimize and de-escalate crises.
  • Must provide engaged, continuous supervision of all residents.
  • Participate in all ongoing trainings and staff meetings.
  • Model healthy coping behaviors and provide therapeutic interactions consistent with agency policies.
  • Maintain care and cleanliness of the facility and grounds.
  • Support and implement goals set in Case Management and Treatment Planning
  • Applicants must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling and Guidance, Criminal Justice, Special Education, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum two years’ experience working with LGBTQ+ youth or similar populations preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred; required within six months of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license, willingness to submit driving record annually, and ability to transport youth.
  • Background check and TB test required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays is mandatory.

Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, and potential communicable diseases.
  • Residential environment with variable noise levels.
  • Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
  • Proficiency at computer literacy.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 15 hours/week, with the understanding that weekly hours may vary given the demands of a continuously staffed, 24/7 care environment.
  • Hourly rate $20–$23 with shift differentials for 3rd shift.
  • $150/month healthcare stipend for full-time employees.
