Lead Youth Treatment Specialist 3rd Shift - Jefferson County Youth Residential Youth Treatment Program

Responsibilities- Lead Youth Crisis Stabilization Program – Jefferson County;
Lead Youth Treatment Specialist – 3rd Shift. - Provide direct care, supervision, and mentorship of residents; implement daily activities schedules; deliver group educational and recreational activities; follow up with youth individually; model positive behavior; support youth development and identity.
- Serve as shift lead to ensure staff are trained, meet youth needs, and follow program policies/procedures.
- Attend to the milieu using evidence-based practices for youth with mental health and life needs, including DBT, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, youth-centered approaches, and culturally reverent practices.
- Maintain safety through active sight and sound supervision; monitor risk to self or others and communicate with clinical staff; respond to crisis situations and use approved de-escalation and intervention techniques.
- Perform routine duties including room checks, laundry, cleaning, inventory support, and documentation of incidents as required.
- Collaborate with clinical staff, supervisors, and leadership to develop programming, monitor compliance, and measure outcomes.
- Administer medication as needed in collaboration with medical providers and nursing staff, ensuring staff are aware of changes.
- Ensure confidentiality and adhere to state licensing and county requirements; follow agency policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned related to the Youth Crisis Stabilization Program.
- Train new staff, serve as a role model, and orient staff to the Youth Crisis Stabilization Program.
- Act as shift leader to ensure programming and youth needs are met; redirect and coach staff as needed; communicate performance concerns to supervisor.
- Provide tasks and direction to staff on shift; ensure policy, procedure, and protocol compliance with state and DHS standards.
- Ensure that Youth Treatment Specialists follow clinical recommendations and manage incident reporting with leadership oversight.
- Collaborate with resident care supervisor and leadership to develop programming, monitor compliance, and measure outcomes.
- Administer medication in coordination with medical staff and notify of changes.
- Attend in-services, trainings, and weekly/monthly staff meetings; provide coverage as needed.
- Perform other job-related duties as necessary to fulfill position responsibilities.
- Minimal Qualifications and Salary
Schedule: - * A high school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- * Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- * Must be at least 21 years old (at least 2 years older than the oldest resident).
- * At least 4 years of experience serving youth with mental health needs.
- * Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to work with diverse populations.
- * Knowledge and skills to work with populations ages 10-17; valid driver’s license and transportation preferred.
- * Meet all employee requirements including references, criminal background check, drug test, and driver’s license verification.
- * Working knowledge of positive youth development; ability to manage escalating youth and crisis situations; proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Work Relationship and Scope:
Reports to Youth Treatment Specialist Supervisor; interacts with youth, families, staff, vendors, and various agencies. - Personal Attributes:
Adhere to agency codes of conduct and policies; maintain professional relationships and cultural sensitivity. - Working Conditions:
State Certified YCSF; local travel as required; ability to manage trauma-exposed youth; ability to lift up to 30 pounds; driving may be required. - Physical Demands:
May involve activity with youth; possible use of physical intervention in extreme situations; driving may be required.
