Recovery Support Coordinator – Recovery Support Coordination (RSC)

Position located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with Wisconsin Community Services, Inc. within the WIser Choice Behavioral Health Department. Full‑time. Job Code: 2025-BHS-022.

Job Responsibilities
  • Accept referrals of eligible consumers from Reach In Specialists, DOC and Central Intake; initiate strength and need assessment; offer service coordination and treatment planning in conjunction with Probation and Parole plan.
  • Set up Recovery Support Teams comprised of formal and informal supports; assemble within two weeks of enrollment by interviewing the consumer and identifying the support system.
  • Facilitate and coordinate Recovery Support Team meetings to develop a Recovery Plan of Care (RPOC) based on consumer strengths, needs, values and preferences; include a probation/parole component to assist the consumer toward favorable and measurable outcomes. Complete the initial RPOC within thirty days; update every 30 days or as needed.
  • Assist the team in establishing measurable consumer outcomes; adjust RPOCs to remove barriers among agencies.
  • Prepare and conduct training on Wraparound philosophy and approach for consumers, AODA vendors, and other team members.
  • Counsel, support, and engage the consumer in the AODA Wraparound process; promote self‑sufficiency and aid in rebuilding relationships and daily living.
  • Collaborate with Probation and Parole and the AODA agency to provide ongoing aftercare, facilitate team meetings, and coordinate services.
  • Develop and authorize RPOC services for the consumer through vouchers with approved network providers; follow vouchering guidelines.
  • Monitor provision and quality of services through the team; modify RPOCs per established guidelines.
  • Advocate for the consumer in developing new services/resources; act as liaison regarding the court system and other institutions.
  • Provide or secure crisis services for consumers, via face‑to‑face or phone contact.
  • Arrange or provide transportation as appropriate; drive to locations for meetings with clients and agencies.
  • Document RPOC, progress notes, authorizations, crisis plans, and collect outcome data in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a caseload of up to twenty consumers; attend weekly face‑to‑face contacts, team meetings, and be available 24/7 for crisis response as required.
  • Participate in administrative and collaborative meetings and activities associated with the WIser Choice and Behavioral Health Department.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in educating and engaging defendants in the treatment process.
  • Participate in Recovery Support meetings as appropriate.
  • Attend training to enhance facilitation skills.
  • Collaborate with other individuals the consumer may interact with (e.g., probation, DOC, social services, courts, attorneys, employers).
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by the Administrator.
  • Assist the consumer to access AODA treatment and recovery services, including mental health, housing, employment, social services, education, and others as needed.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Highly organized, detail oriented, with strong follow‑through; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work with diverse populations; knowledge of substance abuse and addiction; understanding of criminal justice and community resources; experience in interviewing and meeting facilitation; proficient computer skills.

Minimal Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, or Human Services; at least three years of related experience; knowledge of Wraparound philosophy a plus; valid Wisconsin driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to a vehicle; minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute; meet security clearance standards set by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and Milwaukee County.

Other Job Information

Reports directly to the Administrator/Program Supervisor; interacts with incarcerated individuals, correctional staff, probation/parole, WCS staff, AODA and recovery support providers, funders, family members, and the general public.
