Pay Range: $30.19 - $45.29
Job SummaryUnder the direction of the HVAC Supervisor, this position will maintain HVAC systems, including all types of heating & cooling equipment, boilers & chillers, rooftop units & built-in systems. Install & maintain HVAC controls such as control panels, room sensors, and thermostats. Carry out preventative maintenance duties on all HVAC equipment, such as change filters, clean cooling towers, and punch chiller tubes.
Works closely with HVAC team members and other Trades and departments. Work in all Milwaukee County facilities including secured detention facilities and secured working areas with sensitive information and assets.
Essential Responsibilities- Maintain heating plants and chilled water systems including cooling towers and air handling equipment. Service steam supply/condensate systems. Repair temperature control systems, thermostats, and air compressor systems.
- Steam & gas fired heating plant & chiller seasonal start-up & shutdown. Boiler seasonal start-up & shutdown. Daily monitoring and adjustments on said systems.
- Respond to emergency work orders including HVAC equipment & control failure, and hot/cold calls.
- Interface with work order system. Keep accurate records of needs, repairs & maintenance. Complete requisitions & order materials to perform work duties. Use computer to respond to email, enter time worked, and complete on-line training as assigned.
- Work with members of other Trades teams whenever needed to perform the duties of the position or assist other teams when needed to perform other duties of the department.
- High school diploma/GED equivalent required.
- A valid state of Wisconsin driver's license at time of hire and maintained throughout employment.
- Associate's degree in HVAC OR have completed a State recognized HVAC apprenticeship with at least three (3) years of field experience OR have at least five (5) or more years of facility maintenance experience.
- Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets including:
Microsoft Word, Excel and E-mail correspondence. - Must successfully undergo a criminal history background check to maintain security clearance for Milwaukee County facilities.
- Possess and maintain one of the following licenses: ASOPE Facility Operating Engineer 1st Class or Power Plant Operational Engineer 3rd Class or NIULPE 4th Class Engineer license within 6 months of hire.
- Refrigerant Handling License preferred.
- Push, pull, lift and carry up to 50lbs on a consistent basis.
- Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions - hot, cold, snow, rain etc.
- Work flexible schedules with the ability to be on call.
- Climb ladders and work at heights.
- Good communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with other trades and contractors.
- Read construction drawings and understand specifications.
