Make a difference in our community! The City of West Allis is seeking dedicated individuals to help maintain and repair our municipal water distribution system. From repairing water mains and valves to maintaining fire hydrants, your work ensures safe and reliable water service for residents and businesses.
What You'll Do
Provide a vital service to the West Allis community by ensuring the reliability and safety of the municipal water distribution system. Depending on your role, you will:
  • Repair, replace, and maintain water mains, valves, water services, and fire hydrants throughout the City.
  • Perform curb box and hydrant preventive maintenance to keep systems functioning properly.
  • Locate utilities for Digger's Hotline requests to ensure safe excavation.
  • Read and record water consumption data from meters at residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
  • Assist with meter maintenance and testing.
  • Work as part of a crew performing light to heavy manual labor in all weather conditions.
  • Operate tools and equipment necessary for installation, maintenance, and repair tasks.
What You Bring
For Laborer - Maintenance Repairer in Training:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain CDL Class B, C with airbrakes and Tanker Endorsement within 12 months.
  • Willingness to learn and perform heavy manual labor (experience preferred).
For Maintenance Repairer:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2-3 years' experience maintaining water distribution system piping, valves, and hydrants.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain CDL Class B, C with airbrakes and Tanker Endorsement within 12 months.
