What You'll Do
Provide a vital service to the West Allis community by ensuring the reliability and safety of the municipal water distribution system. Depending on your role, you will:
- Repair, replace, and maintain water mains, valves, water services, and fire hydrants throughout the City.
- Perform curb box and hydrant preventive maintenance to keep systems functioning properly.
- Locate utilities for Digger's Hotline requests to ensure safe excavation.
- Read and record water consumption data from meters at residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
- Assist with meter maintenance and testing.
- Work as part of a crew performing light to heavy manual labor in all weather conditions.
- Operate tools and equipment necessary for installation, maintenance, and repair tasks.
For Laborer - Maintenance Repairer in Training:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to obtain CDL Class B, C with airbrakes and Tanker Endorsement within 12 months.
- Willingness to learn and perform heavy manual labor (experience preferred).
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-3 years' experience maintaining water distribution system piping, valves, and hydrants.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to obtain CDL Class B, C with airbrakes and Tanker Endorsement within 12 months.
