Position: PLUMBER - RESTRICTED - JOURNEYMAN
Job Summary

Milwaukee Public Schools is actively recruiting qualified candidates for the Plumber - Restricted (Journeyman) position.

A Plumber - Restricted (Journeyman) installs, replaces, modifies, inspects and repairs water systems; installs, replaces, modifies, clears interior and exterior storm and sanitary sewer piping, kitchen grease traps, catch and sump basins, etc.; and operates and maintains large earth moving, hand and power equipment and tools related to the trade.

The Plumber - Restricted (Journeyman) hourly wage is $55.82 per hour.

Certifications and Licensing Requirements:

• Certification in the EPA Asbestos Abatement Training Program (O&M) within 6 months of appointment Note 1
• Silica Hazard Awareness Training within first month of appointment. Note 1,2
• Certification in the Lead Safe Renovator Training Program within 6 months of appointment. Note 1
• Scaffolding User and Erector Training Certification within 6 months of appointment. Note 1,2
• Fall Protection Competent Person Training Certification within 6 months of appointment. Notes 1,2
• Confined Space Entry training within 6 months of appointment. Note 1,2
• Completion of DFMS Maintenance and Repair Staff New Hire EHS Orientation Training Note 2

Working Environment:

• Ability to work mandatory overtime hours as required, whether given advanced notice, or called-in to perform emergency duties
• Exposure to dust, dirt, general construction debris, hazardous materials, etc. that may require the use of respiratory protection.
• Exposure to loud noises that may require the use of hearing protection devices.
• Exposure to confined spaces that may require special rigging, harnessing, etc.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Essential physical requirements, such as climbing, standing, or stooping.

Physical Demands:

• Exposure to work environments as previously indicated
• Ability to climb and work at heights at or above 70 feet in all weather conditions
• Ability to move objects weighing 100 lbs. or more
• Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

Eligible applicants MUST have the following:

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Working knowledge of computer applications including MS Office software

Experience Requirements:

• Two (2) years of experience as a licensed restricted plumber in the performance of duties closely related to the responsibilities listed.
• Experience in operating within a Computerized Maintenance Management Software system (preferably Asset
  
  WORKS), preferred.

Certifications and Licensing Requirements:

• Journeyman Plumber Restricted License issued by the State of Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services pursuant to Wisconsin Statute 145.14 (2) (9) (b). Department of Safety and Professional Services at time of appointment and throughout employment required.
• Valid State of Wisconsin Motor Vehicle operator's license and availability of properly insured personal vehicle at time of appointment and throughout employment.
