The Automation Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance on industrial equipment, including but not limited to electric forklifts, racking, dock & doors, scissor lifts, tuggers, floor scrubbers, golf carts, robotics, conveyor systems, case sealers & erectors.
Experience and Skills- 3 Years Minimum Experience in Automation is required.
- Must have own tools, strong technology skills, strong office skills, self-motivated, organized, with great communication and relationship-building skills; able to work well under pressure in all situations.
- Must be able to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, hydraulic diagrams, pneumatic prints.
- Able to organize own work and work independently, with limited supervision.
- Experience with Electric Forklifts (Crown preferred) is a plus.
- Point of contact for customers.
- Performing and completing PMs & repairs.
- Facilitate work/repair requests.
- Provide shift coverage and fill in for PTO requests.
- Willing to be On Call.
- Communicate PTO coverage plans with direct supervisor and/or customers.
- Coordinate and drive warranty requests.
- Facilitate outside vendor work (PO process and billing).
- Facilitate all outside of scope work.
- Parts ordering and inventory management (5S).
- Fill out and complete daily work orders.
- Attend and complete monthly safety training requirements.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures, including root cause analysis; research potential warranty, rework and repetitive repairs using historical equipment data via Field Connect.
- Complete all repairs of equipment in a timely manner per manufacturer guidelines.
- Judgment and decision making — consider costs and benefits of actions to choose the most appropriate course.
- Inspect equipment per PM Planning tools schedule in Field Connect service platform.
- Communicate information to supervisor and co-workers by phone, email, or in person.
- Timely and accurate completion of all work orders and service records per Concentric time standard.
- Maintain accurate and timely entry of work hours in Paylocity.
- All work must be completed safely and in accordance with customer and Concentric requirements.
- Work areas maintained to ensure safety; keep areas clean and organized daily.
- Complete safety training modules timely.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- PM Completion, Tech Efficiency, Customer Satisfaction, Inventory Variance, Work in Progress, Safety, Shop Cleanliness & 5S, attitude and teamwork, and other KPIs as assigned.
- High School or GED Diploma required.
- Minimum 3 years of Automation experience.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills (480V, 240V, 24V, 48V).
- Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, hydraulic diagrams, and pneumatic prints.
- Ability to work independently, with diverse teams and across remote offices.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills; basic plumbing and basic handyman skills.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Automation Tech / forklift technician / automation technology-savvy.
- Experience with Electric Forklifts (Crown preferred).
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical components using wiring diagrams and schematics; basic laptop software skills for identifying online issues.
