Overview: The Resident Monitor‑Security (3rd Shift) monitors and supervises client activities, enforces facility rules, conducts sobriety testing, prepares reports, and ensures compliance with life‑safety, security, and sanitation requirements. The position requires constant vigilance and the ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, staff, staff, and external partners.
Responsibilities- Adhere to mandatory attendance and overtime requirements on all shifts.
- Maintain a constant state of alertness and work cooperatively with supervisors, co‑workers, and contractors.
- Supervise residents in living quarters, recreation room, dining area, and visitation areas.
- Instruct residents on facility property usage and enforce house rules.
- Instill good personal hygiene habits and supervise resident chores.
- Check locks, alarms, and security equipment; conduct surveillance inside and outside the facility.
- Administer urine surveillance and breath‑alyzer tests as required.
- Perform building tours, irregular counts, and community monitoring.
- Prepare discipline, accident, incident, medical, escape, and log reports.
- Follow policy for incident notification and report distribution.
- Track medication usage and process resident payments and fees.
- Motivate residents using incentives and sanctions for compliance.
- Maintain accountability of residents, facility control, life safety, environmental safety, and sanitation.
- Attend training sessions, staff meetings, and other designated duties.
- Assist with new resident intake and orientation.
- Perform all other duties as directed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of prior work experience in corrections, security, or related social services preferred.
- Must clear caregiver, background checks, physical exam, and drug screen prior to hire.
- Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication; basic computer skills.
- Effective de‑escalation and crisis management.
- Cultural sensitivity toward ethnic and disability issues.
- Experience with CCTV and security equipment preferred.
- Ability to learn evidence‑based best practices and apply them to all resident interactions.
The work setting is an adult correctional halfway house that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The facility is the primary living environment for the population served.
Physical DemandsMust be able to climb two to three flights of stairs, move throughout the facility, sit for extended periods, walk, stay awake during shifts, evacuate occupants in emergencies, provide First Aid and CPR, and lift up to 50 lbs when required.
