Dispatcher/Communications Officer – Full Time – Community Safety and Law Enforcement
Marquette University seeks a highly competent dispatcher to manage emergency and routine communications for the University Police Department. The role involves responding to radio and telephone calls, operating alarm and surveillance systems, data entry, and coordinating with municipal emergency responders.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesSkills and Abilities
- High school education, extensive background investigation, and a drug screen.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; diplomacy and tact in sensitive situations.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and work independently.
- Professional interaction with diverse publics; accurate typing and multitasking ability.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and read/map directions and spatial relationships.
- Familiarity with computers and data entry.
- Strong commitment to top‑quality customer service.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and assigned overtime.
Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with criminal justice/law enforcement systems, including the TIME system, and CJIS security requirements.
