Key Account Manager – Orphalan, a Syneos Health Company

Job OverviewAs a Key Account Manager, you will own relationships with physicians and pharmacy directors, leveraging these connections to generate increased demand for Orphalan’s products. You will position the company as a caring partner in rare disease treatment, targeting key prescribers and influencers within your territory to achieve sales, growth, and market share objectives.
Responsibilities and Duties- Achieve regional sales, growth, and market share targets.
- Develop, implement, and update a territory business action plan, identifying key customers, opportunities, and tactics.
- Provide thoughtful input to commercial colleagues for strategic and tactical planning.
- Execute national sales and marketing plans and strategies.
- Build a strong network within the territory and share knowledge with the national team.
- Anticipate potential barriers and propose responsible solutions.
- Maintain in‑depth knowledge of disease‑state drivers, influencers, and prescribing patterns.
- Develop and nurture close relationships with target customers, taking initiative to manage key medical experts.
- Build relationships with key accounts and opinion leaders in relevant specialist groups.
- Identify and acquire new clients.
- Maximize effectiveness of customer calls and presentations.
- Proactively develop and implement programs to increase market share (meetings, symposia, projects).
- Participate in national/regional meetings and medical conferences.
- Effectively handle customer objections and exceed expectations.
- Share exemplary skills with the team in a training capacity when called upon.
- Scientific background or degree combined with >8 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales or a similar role.
- Expertise in orphan drugs; experience with hepatology, neurology, metabolic, and gastroenterology professionals is beneficial.
- Existing relationships with territory accounts is a strong plus.
- Proven track record of success in a competitive environment.
- Product launch experience.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Outstanding negotiation skills and a business sense.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Person of integrity complying with company policies and local legislation.
- High energy, positive outlook, entrepreneurial spirit, and proactive approach.
- Ability to set priorities and be highly self‑accountable.
- Ability to build strong relationships with key accounts/customers.
- Excellent presentation skills supporting ideas and strategies to management.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, and effective presentation creation.
