Sr. Metallurgical Engineer/Quality Manager - commercial heat treat
This position is responsible for quality assurance and maintaining NADCAP accreditation. The role will also supervise a process engineer and department assistant.
Responsibilities- Establish, implement, and maintain a documented Quality Management System that meets customer requirements, and organizational and industry standards. The Quality Manager has the responsibility and authority to ensure that the QMS conforms to the requirements of AS 9100
- Report on the performance of the QMS and on opportunities for improvement, in particular to top management
- Ensure that the integrity of the QMS is maintained when changes to the QMS are planned and implemented
- Direct and supervise the work of Quality Department employees, and develop their careers through training and effective performance reviews
- Provide procedures and training, as required, to individuals whose work affects quality issues in the requirements of the QMS and to support quality department objectives
- Establish and maintain relations with customer representatives in quality related activities, including source inspection, audits and process surveys
- Interface with other departments to provide assistance, resolve problems and monitor work affecting quality
- Ensure that suitable, appropriate equipment is utilized and properly maintained
- Ensure that inspection and test records are generated, organized, and maintained
- Oversee the control of measuring and monitoring equipment through calibration and service schedules, etc.
- Control and disposition non-conforming material
- Monitor and record the process metrics of the QMS
- Coordinate Management Review Meetings
- Promote safety and good housekeeping practices
- Perform other tasks as assigned or dictated by position

Skills:
Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing - Must have excellent math skills as well as precise measurement competencies
- Excellent computer skills required, especially in MS Excel
- Work Environment: regularly exposed to heat, dust, noise, humidity, fumes, etc.
- Must have extensive knowledge of heat treating and brazing processes, testing, metallurgy, temperatures, etc.
- Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism
