Position Summary:

This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties, including assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Responsibilities include interviewing patients, measuring vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height), venipuncture and procedures as directed by the physician. Documentation is recorded in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guideline.

The candidate prepares treatment rooms for patient examination, may assist in covering the front desk as required, executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response. Delegates as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act. Refers or consults with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent or resolve problems or concerns.

Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.

Job Functions Team Responsibilities
  • Participate in decision‑making and process improvement.

  • Assist with daily clerical operations, including answering multi‑phone lines and making copies of documents as necessary.
  • Schedule patient appointments as necessary, return visits, and specialists.
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Ensure that patient rooms and equipment are kept stocked, clean, and ready.
  • Distribute referrals as necessary to physicians and insurance companies; keep proper documentation of referral requests/responses in patient charts.
  • Pre‑authorize prescriptions and clinical tests (CT, MRI, ultrasound, etc.) as necessary.
  • Phone/fax patient prescriptions as necessary.
  • Schedule tests as ordered by provider.
  • Contact patients with lab results and send letters to patients as necessary.
  • Accurately perform clinical duties to include triaging patients, checking vitals, administering injections and venipunctures, and prepping patients for physician exam.
