The Outpatient Hematology Oncology Registered Nurse provides services to oncology patients and their families at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee. Members of the Hematology Oncology team demonstrate proficiency in practice managing complex client situations. Hematology Oncology Nurses administer medications and procedures per policies and guidelines, and influence outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
DutiesThe Hematology Oncology Registered Nurse exhibits a competent understanding, showcasing proficiency in delivering both direct and indirect nursing care to oncology patients and their families. The Nurse will complete physiological assessments, complete documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with policies and procedures, perform wound care, coordinate care, and triage patients. Hematology Oncology Nurse provides a safe working environment while administering, handling, and disposing of antineoplastic drugs and medical waste.
Nurses will oversee treatments in the oncology setting, including vascular access devices and infusion treatments.
