36.00. Shift: Shift 3 (3–12 hour shifts: 1900‑0730, every 3rd weekend rotation).

WEST is a 50‑bed Cardiac Progressive Care Unit that treats a variety of complex patients, including Medicine Progressive Care, cardiothoracic surgery, electrophysiology, advanced heart failure, lung/heart transplant, transvenous pacing, mechanical circulatory support, and DKA management. RN’s in this unit obtain specialized skills, including ACLS training within one year of hire.

The Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a group of patients in an inpatient environment. This role focuses on a primarily adult population and incorporates essential functions derived from the ANA Nursing:
Scope and Standards of Practice, 2nd Edition.

• Clinical competence and experience in the care and management of target patient populations specific to the area of employment.

Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through completion of education at an accredited School of Nursing is required. Any non‑BSN nurse with less than one year of licensed registered nurse experience will be required to enroll in a BSN (or higher) program and complete it within 5 years (6 years for MSN, DNP, or PhD). A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Requires a current Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi‑state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC. AHA Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) is required within 90 days of hire, and AHA Heart Code Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or an equivalent is required within one year of hire.
