Nurse Practitioner; NP - Cardiology

Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200
-000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

• The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) II-III Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices in the Cardiology Service of the Medicine Division to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission
• The NP provides advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management
• Major duties and responsibilities of the position:
  Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on cardiac diseases using evidence-based practice
• Carries out cardiovascular assessments - diagnosis - and management of cardiac conditions Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management
• Completes pre-procedure history and physical exams and appropriate diagnostic tests - as specified in clinical privileges
• Prepares patients for cardiac procedures Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with Cardiology Team and other interdisciplinary team members
• Orders and interprets labs - tests - and diagnostic studies
• Conducts and interprets stress tests Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions
• Initiates referrals and consults to other specialty services
• Provides education to patients and their families
• Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes
• Experience in preparing patients for cardiac procedures and providing post-procedural care is strongly preferred
• This includes patient education - coordination of care - monitoring for complications - and collaboration with procedural teams
