Aboutthe Role
As an Operations Supervisor at Ryerson, you will be responsible for directing the efficient function of plant operations, including production equipment, shipping, receiving, inventory, and related activities.
Roles And Responsibilities- Understands production goals and implements actions necessary to meet objectives.
- Provides leadership to direct reports; coaches and counsels employees.
- Facilitates problem‑solving and team‑building activities.
- Participates in the Performance Management Process (PMP).
- Carries out and supports company policies, goals, and objectives.
- Understands quality goals and implements actions necessary to meet ISO 9000 standards.
- Reviews plant supply inventory and advises purchasing when levels are low.
- Ensures training is effectively carried out and oversees completion of training checklists.
- Communicates with other departments within the facility, as well as other locations.
- Understands customer requirements, participates, and advises on decisions regarding suitability of material and processing equipment.
- Provides direction and coaching in safe work practices; supports safety goals.
- Reviews unsafe conditions and ensures corrective actions are carried out to eliminate workplace hazards.
- Follows and enforces CBA and Memorandum of Agreement.
- Performs all other duties as assigned or otherwise directed.
- College education preferred.
- A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn and become proficient in SAP.
