General Production Lead – Direct Hire | Superior Skilled Trades

The company specializes in precision sheet metal fabrication, offering services such as laser cutting, punching, forming, bending, machining, welding, and value-added finishing. They emphasize quality control and precision throughout production and invest in state-of-the-art technology to deliver complex parts on time and to specification.

Position Overview

This is a Direct Hire Opportunity. As a Working General Production Lead, you will oversee daily operations in the Shakeout department, delegating, training, and monitoring employees as they remove laser-cut or turret-punched components by hand. You will ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards while serving as a subject matter expert and providing guidance to team members.

This role is ideal for candidates with prior production or fabrication experience who have strong organizational and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe work environment and uphold departmental housekeeping standards.

  • Coordinate daily operations and workflow within the department.

  • Consult with Production Manager on production schedules and assignments.

  • Identify and report quality issues, providing solutions when possible.

  • Serve as the department’s subject matter expert and facilitate employee training.

  • Complete and maintain required documentation and production records.

  • Provide input for process improvements and help overcome departmental challenges.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 6–12 months of related production or manufacturing experience preferred, or a combination of education and experience.

  • Strong organizational skills and prior experience in manufacturing-based material handling.

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate instructions effectively.

  • Ability to apply common sense judgment to routine problems and standardized situations.

  • Experience as a Lead Material Handler or in a similar production/fabrication environment is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.

  • Regularly lift up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift over 100 lbs.

  • Frequent use of hands to handle materials and operate tools.

  • Visual ability to perform close-range and detailed inspection work.

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb as needed.
