Job Description

Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Pay: $19 /hr

Job Summary: Responsible for machine operation and crew in a light industrial setting. Must manage a machine team to ensure proper and safe operation of assigned equipment. Responsible for quality, output, and meeting production goals. May also fulfill duties of a Production Technician 1 or 2 as required.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Production – Monitor machine and personnel performance; ensure goals are met; communicate issues to supervisor or Production Technician 3 Lead; complete all work assignments during production; check in material, set up pockets, move material offline, and perform other assignments as necessary; apply advanced troubleshooting skills and basic maintenance to improve quality and performance; assist crew members when needed. (40%)
  • Crew Leadership/Training – Organize crew activities, delegate assignments, train and develop all crew members. (30%)
  • Quality and Waste – Monitor product quality, report errors, adjust to correct quality issues, monitor print and bundle quality; monitor product waste and take steps to reduce or eliminate spoilage and doubles. (15%)
  • Communication / Record Keeping – Maintain accurate records (safety audits, packages per hour, labor hours per thousand, etc.), communicate personnel issues to supervisors, inform other operators/supervisors of pertinent information, and communicate to other shifts as necessary. (15%)
Qualifications Education

High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)

Experience

3–5 years of related experience; basic computer experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to multi‑task.
  • Demonstrate ability to act as line lead or crew lead for one machine.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator (share equipment knowledge, quality, and safety concerns).
  • Ability to troubleshoot machine problems.
  • Mathematical skills and advanced production‑reporting skills.
  • Basic computer skills; technical skills may vary based on equipment.
  • Ability and knowledge to operate a pallet jack.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of machine and manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to speak and communicate effectively in English (preferred).

  • Lead, coach, and maintain open communication with other production team members.
  • Participate in the team business meetings.

  • Prioritize work to meet production commitments and goals.

Ability to work overtime beyond the regular schedule to complete work assignments as required.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

May carry up to 15 lb, push and pull up to 40 lb, twist, stand, walk, reach, and grasp throughout the shift. May lift up to 15 lb, squat, kneel, and work in a fast‑paced environment. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne dust, paper particles, and industrial lift trucks. Noise levels may require hearing protection.

Additional Information

The national pay range for this role is $19 /hr. Total compensation may include bonuses, commission, or incentive programs.
