* Job Summary:

** In conjunction with the Service Line Executive Director and Director, acts as an active member of the practice management team to support the care management model, standards of pediatric clinical practice, legal regulations, Code of Ethics and established policies. Supervises professional, administrative and technical personnel (pediatric nurses, nurse clinicians, clinic assistants and support staff) providing patient care. Partners with MACC Fund Outpatient Manager on business and financial operations.

Area of responsibility includes, Hematology, Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant clinics, the Day Hospital, and the Infusion Center.

* Essential Functions:

*** Performs essential nursing functions. Demonstrates competency in performance of all aspects of nursing.
* Manages the MACC Fund Center Ambulatory staff including recruitment, staffing, employee relations, performance evaluation and management, training and orientation, approval of time including PPL requests, and compliance to department and system policies.
* Contributes to attaining long range objectives for the MACC Fund Center Service Line including, but not limited to: financial goals, operations improvement, quality improvement, resource utilization and clinical practice enhancements.
* Participates in budget planning and responds to monthly variances. Primarily accountable leader to identify and utilize staff and supply resources appropriate to the requirements of patient care.
* Oversees ambulatory clinical care delivery. Supervises patient care activities and assures adequate nursing staffing to meet patient care needs. Primarily accountable leader to respond to variations in patient volume and acuity.
* Monitors and optimizes clinic throughput and flow. Works with Ambulatory and Inpatient nurses, staff, and providers to assure seamless care for patients transferred between outpatient and inpatient care settings.
* Keeps MACC Fund Outpatient Manager informed of unusual patient or employee situations, patient safety events, changes in staffing requirements, recognition or corrective actions with appropriate documentation, or operational problems within the department.
* Proactively trends system issues, identifies solutions and works with unit leadership team to continually improve systems.
* In partnership with MACC Fund leadership team, develops, implements, and evaluates personnel programs to promote the recruitment, retention, professional development, and continuing education of all Ambulatory Nursing and support Staff. Develops staffing plans and provide for human resource needs.
* Oversees staff orientation process and supports nursing educational activities. Collaborates with other members of the MACC Fund Center leadership team regarding staff development needs, including identifying and prioritizing formal education needs across Hem Onc/BMT clinic/Day Hospital and the Infusion Center. Promotes staff development and growth. Writes and maintains staff competencies with clinical input from the nursing team.
