Senior Director Regulatory and Risk Program Management – Hybrid
Apply to join Northwestern Mutual as Senior Director Regulatory and Risk Program Management – Hybrid. This role blends risk mitigation with business needs, providing thought leadership, program management, and consultation to the PSS function.
Responsibilities- Lead and align large, highly complex, strategic cross‑departmental/functional programs or portfolios, managing scope, risk, business value, schedule and budget.
- Act as a thought leader on program management activities, developing strategy for planning and executing highly complex efforts.
- Define program objectives, deliverables and structure, creating a single unified plan.
- Serve as an integration point to support complex, enterprise‑wide initiatives, enabling and driving cross‑collaboration.
- Build and motivate team members, influencing them to take accountability and resolve issues and conflicts at a portfolio/program level.
- Drive clarity on program objectives, priorities and measures, developing solutions for high‑impact problems and mitigating risks.
- Develop strong relationships with business clients to manage delivery expectations and implementation.
- Align stakeholder leadership on strategy, business priorities, and approach to program delivery.
- Gather and deliver program metrics, using data to highlight successes, challenges and insights for continual improvement.
- Apply extensive business acumen and integrate industry knowledge into program objectives.
- Understand business drivers, conduct complex analysis to define program deliverables, and solve departmental or business needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Project Management or related field, or significant directly‑related experience.
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing complex programs and cross‑functional initiatives.
- Experience in strategic and operational planning, leading large, complex cross‑functional projects with organization‑wide impact.
- Ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- FINRA registration preferred.
- Proven leadership skills with diverse teams.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, building rapport within the company, field and outside vendors.
- Ability to gain buy‑in from all levels of leadership in strategic and operational functions.
- Strong short‑term and long‑term planning skills, managing resources to respond to business needs.
- High degree of self‑motivation, leadership and initiative in sharing information and accepting responsibility.
- Demonstrated organizational agility, influence and collaboration across boundaries.
- Exceptional business acumen and focus on achieving business impact through progressive practices.
- Strong problem‑solving and strategic/critical thinking skills.
- Facilitation and team‑building skills, comfortable presenting to senior leaders.
- Program Governance:
Establish and manage policies, processes and structures to guide decision‑making and align with organizational goals. - Business Influence:
Collaborate, communicate and influence direct reports, stakeholders and other business functions. - Analytical Thinking:
