Position:
Power Equipment Operator (Part-time)

Schedule:

Shift starts at 3PM (Weekdays Only)

Hourly Rate: $18.50 + $1.50 (2nd shift differential pay)

Summary

Associates with the title of Power Equipment Operator must demonstrate proficiency and meet all productivity and quality requirements of the following duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Operate battery‑ and gas‑powered equipment (excluding motorized pallet jacks) to transport product to and from inventory storage locations within the facility. Equipment includes forklifts, stock pickers, wave work‑assist vehicles, sit‑down and stand‑up counterbalanced trucks, reach trucks, etc.
  • Follow all power equipment rules and regulations, including OSHA and other regulatory agency policies.
  • Use all personal protective safety equipment, including lanyards and harnesses, at all times when operating order/stock pickers.
  • Adhere to all facility safety rules and regulations at all times.
  • Perform all scanner functions necessary for the position, including cycle counts, replenishment, item inquiry, and inventory put‑away.
  • Stack and store product neatly and safely when moved via power equipment and in rack or staging locations.
  • Maintain accuracy of all inventory movements at all times.
  • Inspect and assist in equipment maintenance as required; report any unsafe conditions to management.
  • Handle all merchandise carefully, avoiding damage, bending, or tearing.
  • Participate in physical inventory and customer appreciation warehouse sale events.
  • Consistently meet minimum required production, accuracy, or quality standards.
  • Assist in the processing of returned book fairs by unpacking metal cases, boxes, and displays in accordance with corporate procedures.
  • Assist in picking and packing customer reorders when necessary.
  • Keep the work area neat, clean, safe, and organized at all times.
  • Perform seasonal inventory production‑line resets individually and with co‑workers.
  • Assist in loading and unloading trucks, with or without mechanical devices, as applicable.
  • Use warehouse equipment and tools properly to increase productivity, efficiency, and safety; report any unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or injuries immediately to supervisor or manager.
  • Use proper techniques for lifting, packing, and handling heavy objects.
  • Accurately and timely complete labor data collection cards in accordance with company standards.
  • Maintain attendance and punctuality per the assigned work schedule and company standards.
  • Maintain a courteous and positive relationship with all co‑workers and customers.
  • Comply with drug and alcohol free policy.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED certificate preferred.
  • Trained and licensed to operate power equipment.
  • Minimum 1 year of power equipment operation experience for non‑internal promotions.
  • Successful completion of a forklift training program.
  • Basic product scanner proficiency with minimal errors.
  • Strong team player able to work well with co‑workers.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read English documents such as safety rules and operating instructions.
  • At least 18 years of age.
Physical Demands
  • Lift boxes that weigh up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Stand, reach above and below the shoulders, squat, bend, and kneel as necessary.
  • Work in a non‑air‑conditioned environment.
  • Pass all required training and maintain certification for the powered industrial equipment operated.
  • Be drug‑free and pass initial and all future random drug screens.
  • Wear personal protective equipment required for each task.
