Job Summary
The Maintenance Crew Leader is responsible for the coordination of maintenance team activities and its support services. Helps ensure individuals and teams accomplish tasks and finish projects assigned by department leader. Assists in the training of employees, and the communication between management and employees. Relies on limited experience and judgment to accomplish goals. Little creativity and latitude are expected and work under direct supervision.
Principle Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn addition to the responsibilities of a Maintenance Mechanic or Maintenance Technician, the Maintenance Crew Leader:
- Relies on direction and feedback from the department lead to ensure the work area is running according to schedule and minimizes downtime.
- Ensures work area and equipment are safe and clean.
- Ensures all employees have received adequate machine-specific safety training prior to operating equipment.
- Implements CI principles to improve current processes.
- Conducts pre-shift meetings and monthly safety talks and provides training to employees.
- Communicates with employees and other management members as required.
- Leads employees in continuous improvements and safety initiatives.
- Participates in the completion of employees' performance evaluation forms.
- Prepares production reports and maintains records as required.
- Ensures the work area is in compliance with established safety standards.
- Performs other duties as required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
- Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience in maintenance areas; 1 to 3 years preferred.
- Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology, and welding >
- Basic working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Basic knowledge of lumber math, lumber grades, and species
- Preferred understanding of company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations
