Position Overview
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Supply Chain, we are looking for a Sr. Materials Manager to serve as the primary point of coordination and interface within the Industrial Components supply chain and overall operations organizations. In this role you will focus on managing the supply chain for Belt Drives and Components products and is responsible for providing comprehensive supply chain leadership in the areas of planning, inventory, material cost management, strategic sourcing, supplier management, and logistics.
The scope of the position includes 6 production facilities, 2 warehouses, and a network of domestic and international suppliers.
- Implements, manages, and improves all processes related to the materials department including but not limited to sourcing, procurement, material handling, scheduling, inventory management, receiving, shipping, production scheduling.
- Manages and is responsible for the value stream’s inventory management & optimization by achieving annual targets for DIO (days inventory outstanding), gross inventory, and net inventory.
- Sets and manages the inventory strategy, plans for every part & monitors performance. Acts as inventory management subject matter expert.
- Uses ERP knowledge to ensure the right parameters are set while improving automation of planning process including periodic parameter refreshes using playbook methodology
- Lead direct material cost savings initiatives for assigned supplier spend in coordination with corporate procurement teams by achieving annual targets for MCO (material cost out).
- Lead sourcing changes for assigned supplier spend including risk assessments, supplier selections, and sourcing council presentations.
- Develops, coordinates, and executes strategic sourcing initiatives under agreed-upon time frames to improve the supply chain including supplier performance and supplier development.
- Key contributor to the SIOP process for materials availability, inventory forecast, scenario planning. Supports in assessing risk, setting forecasts, and implementing countermeasures to close any gaps to key metrics.
- Lead efforts to achieve and maintain alignment in the value chain between the suppliers, and the end customer in all form, fit, function, price, and delivery requirements.
- Lead efforts to improve primary working capital performance, product, raw material, and freight costs, all while maintaining or increasing quality and delivery.
- Works to develop strategic plans and support objectives and proactively manages supporting events to ensure attainment of agreed upon performance.
- Serves as primary responsible to establish monthly revenue, inventory and capacity requirement forecasts and owner for distribution warehouses performance including managing SKU’s, proper SKU levels, OTD to Customer and Availability to Ship metrics.
- Participates in the establishment and deployment of standard processes, policies & procedures, taking the necessary steps to ensure compliance.
- Provide leadership to Planners & Buyers by performing full range of managerial responsibilities which may include but not be limited to interviewing, hiring, coaching, developing employees, planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Proven ability to build, lead, and develop teams.
- Strong financial acumen, especially in P&L and cash-flow modeling, scenario building, and comparative analysis.
- Expert analytical skills with the ability to use a structured approach to understand, analyze, and solve complex problems.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions with imperfect information. Rationalize calculated risks and adapt quickly as new information is available.
- Strong written communication and excellent oral presentation skills, and the ability to present convincingly at senior levels.
- Highly committed team player, flexible, and able to work to tight deadlines.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in a business/industrial related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in supply chain, sourcing, and/or material inventory planning including team leadership and supervisory experience.
- Previous experience working with SAP and/or Oracle Planning and Purchasing modules strongly preferred.
- APICS, CPIM, CPM, ISM or ASQ Supply Chain Certification strongly preferred.
- Six Sigma or LEAN certification strongly preferred.
- Multi-site leadership experience preferred.
Some travel required (approximately 25%) which includes international travel.
