Senior Director, Product & Engineering - Finance & Risk

We are on the lookout for a Senior Director of Digital Product Engineering to spearhead our high-performing engineering, product, design, and technology delivery teams. In this pivotal role, you will guide technology delivery for the Finance and Risk function, maintaining a strategic roadmap that aligns product, engineering, and business teams around impactful releases.

This is an exciting time as we embark on a significant multi-year transformation . You will be at the forefront, driving and executing technology and data transformation initiatives across various critical areas, including Controller, Finance and Planning Analytics, Sourcing and Procurement, Enterprise Risk Management, Audit, and Antifraud .

As a cross-functional leader, you will collaborate closely with business stakeholders and enterprise technology partners to tackle data and analytical challenges, establishing a robust Finance and Risk Data platform that meets our business needs.

• Vision: Set a long-term 5-year technology vision for Finance and Risk, including vendor implementation and integrations across the business.
• Leadership: Lead the implementation of Finance and Risk technology and data/analytics platforms to meet diverse application and reporting needs.
• Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with business leaders to understand drivers and establish aligned goals, turning challenges into opportunities.
• Technical Leadership: Provide hands-on guidance to execute the future state technology and data vision.
• Talent and Development: Drive the talent strategy, focusing on hiring, coaching, and mentoring the team.
• Culture: Foster a high-performing culture that embraces our core values and brings out the best in people.
• Drive: Inspire high-performing teams with expertise, energy, and empathy.
• Defines the Product: Identify and validate problems and opportunities for various user groups across the company.
• Prioritization: Set long-term goals for the product portfolio and team members.

• Ownership: Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and instill these values within your team.
• Ambassador: Represent Northwestern Mutual's technology organization at community and technology events.

• 15+ years of professional experience in application development, programming, and solution architecture in financial services.
• A deep understanding of Finance and Risk areas beyond just technology.
• Experience leading multiple engineering teams and their respective leads.
• Expertise in ERP and EPM implementations (SAP, Oracle, Workday, Anaplan, People Soft, etc.).
• 5+ years of experience managing managers and leading engineering and product teams.
• A product-focused mindset with a start-up spirit to drive business outcomes.
• Experience creating data strategies and overcoming challenges during rollout.
• Hands-on experience with Data Mesh, Data Lake, and cloud data technologies (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.).
• Strong understanding of architecture concepts, application design, and deployment technologies.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback and conduct performance reviews.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
