The Analyst, IT Quality Assurance is an entry‑level role tasked with manual software testing of a micro‑services banking platform built in AWS. This individual will be embedded in a scrum team of 4‑5 other contributors and will collaborate with the team to plan sprint work, refine requirements, and define acceptance criteria. The Quality Assurance Engineer Analyst will write test plans and test cases under guidance of senior QA engineers, and will manage those test artifacts in a test management system.
The individual will verify software meets requirements by conducting functional, performance, and regression testing, identifying and reporting defects, and retesting fixes. A successful candidate will demonstrate engagement with the scrum team and colleagues, ambition for continuous improvement, and concern for overall software quality. An exceptional candidate will be familiar with QA metrics like test coverage, defect distribution/density, etc., and how to use them to measure overall software quality.
you will do
- Collaborate with scrum team members to plan sprint work, refine requirements, and define acceptance criteria.
- Create test plan and test cases based on user stories, requirements documents, and design specifications.
- Perform manual testing against various platforms like web, mobile, and desktop applications.
- Identify software defects and quality issues and report them as detailed defect reports in a bug tracking system, including clear descriptions, steps to reproduce, screenshots, and expected behavior.
- Collaborate with developers to understand and prioritize reported defects, track fixes, and retest to ensure issues are resolved.
- Update test plans, test cases, and test executions with changes in requirements or application functionality.
- Communicate testing progress, findings, and potential risks effectively to all stakeholders.
- Test planning; including how to identify test strategies, types of tests, and test data necessary to cover new feature development.
- Test case writing; including clear and concise preconditions, test steps, parameters, and expected outcomes.
- Test execution; with attention paid to proper set up, use of verifiable test data, correct steps, clean up, and repeatability.
- Attention to detail, problem‑solving, and continuous skills improvement.
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical degree preferred
- 1‑2 years Software testing, including writing test documents, performing different types of testing, and reporting results required
- 1‑2 years Calculating QA metrics like test coverage, defect density/distribution, etc. preferred
The estimated salary range for this position is $80,000 USD to $90,000 USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job‑related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
