Responsibilities
  • Evaluate new and existing technologies, systems, applications, or services to identify compliance risks and recommend solutions that keep data secure.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of compliance frameworks and how they apply to our university environment. Regularly assess and enhance university governance, compliance, and risk (GRC) tools to effectively support evolving regulatory frameworks, which include testing new features, integrating stakeholder feedback, and updating reporting capabilities.
  • Build a culture of policy compliance: educating campus stakeholders about federal, state, and local regulations, university policies, IT policies, and higher education standards; monitor adherence and develop remediation plans when gaps are found; lead an annual review for all IT compliance policies, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure policies remain current, effective, and aligned with university and regulatory requirements; document changes and communicate updates to all relevant parties.
  • Ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of university information through ad‑hoc reporting to leadership teams regarding the effectiveness of compliance controls and actionable recommendations informed by data from multiple sources.
  • Provide supervision and mentorship for direct IT compliance reports ensuring team members are equipped with up-to-date knowledge of GRC requirements and support their ongoing growth through development opportunities. Supervision will also include onboarding, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Assist in overseeing the university third‑party risk management program, consisting of conducting vendor risk assessments, contract reviews, audits, and addressing identified concerns with vendors.
  • Create and maintain standards and processes for disaster recovery and business continuity, including backup and recovery services.
  • Contribute to investigating, documenting, and reporting IT compliance incidents, ensuring corrective measures are implemented to prevent future issues.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to translate technical concepts into clear guidance, assess and improve processes continually, and foster collaborative relationships across campus to ensure consensus building can occur.
  • Responsible for the supervision of staff which includes but is not limited to hiring, termination, disciplinary actions, performance management, staff development, etc.
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of IT governance frameworks, compliance regulations, and standards.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead projects and work in a cross‑functional team environment.
