Strategic Sourcing Program Lead – NPI Shape the Future of Product Launch Sourcing
Are you the go-to person for sourcing when things are complex, time‑sensitive, and mission‑critical? Do you thrive at the front end of New Product Introduction (NPI), where BOMs are long, timelines are tight, and your sourcing decisions directly affect what gets built and when?
If you’re tired of transactional roles and want true ownership over strategic sourcing in a high‑visibility, customer‑facing environment, this may be your next big opportunity.
We’re partnering with a fast‑moving contract manufacturer (high‑mix, low‑volume) that specializes in building sophisticated electromechanical systems for medical, industrial, and life‑critical applications. Their NPI team is the engine behind accelerated customer launches and we’re looking for someone like you to take the sourcing function to the next level.
What You’ll OwnAs the Strategic Sourcing Program Lead – NPI, you’ll be the sourcing expert embedded in cross‑functional launch teams. This isn’t commodity management, it’s program‑based ownership from concept through production ramp.
- Lead supplier strategy on new customer builds often with 200+ part BOMs
- Own supplier identification, onboarding, and contract negotiation
- Develop sourcing roadmaps and risk assessments early in the launch process
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and project management to align sourcing with design and delivery
- Act as the face of sourcing to external customers and internal executives
- Help build the sourcing playbook—processes, KPIs, and supplier engagement strategy
This isn’t a desk job. It’s a cross‑functional leadership role where you’ll shape strategy and solve problems in real time. You'll be part of an elite NPI team that’s known internally for:
- Autonomy & Impact:
You’ll have decision‑making authority and be expected to lead without micro‑management - Speed & Visibility:
Your work directly affects customer timelines and bottom‑line results - Culture of Builders:
The team is scaling—this is your chance to define how sourcing works in a high‑growth environment - Customer‑Facing Execution:
Unlike most sourcing roles, you'll join customer meetings and own supplier narratives from day one
A results‑driven professional who sees both the big picture and the fine print. Someone who can source strategically, act urgently, and influence cross‑functionally with:
- 3+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain roles
- Proven experience managing complex BOMs (200+ parts) for electromechanical or fabricated assemblies
- Strong background in supplier evaluation, negotiation, and onboarding
- Project‑based sourcing for NPI, product launches, or prototyping cycles
- Experience in regulated manufacturing (medical device, aerospace, defense, industrial automation, etc.)
- Familiarity with precision machined parts, sheet metal, or injection molding
- Exposure to contract manufacturing or build‑to‑print environments
- ERP fluency (Net Suite is a plus)
- A reputation for being the person who "just figures it out"
- Base Salary: $90,000 – $110,000
- Performance‑based increases are possible after 6–12 months
- Strong benefits package (401K, PTO, holidays, insurance)
- Weekly leadership exposure, direct access to decision‑makers
- Flexible 40-45 hours per week; in‑office 4 days with an optional remote day.
- Travel: 15–25% (suppliers & customer visits)
If you’re ready to move beyond tactical buying and into a role that blends strategic thinking, executional ownership, and process building, this is the role that will let you lead from the front.
