As the Director of Banquets at The Pfister Hotel, you will provide leadership and oversight to the banquet department. You will lead and train banquet staff in all functions of the department to ensure successful events, create repeat business, and increase profitability and efficiency.
The Pfister Hotel was built in 1893 and has been a hotel icon for nearly 130 years. We celebrate a grand tradition of gracious service and impeccable style. The Pfister has received AAA Four Diamond hotel status for 46 consecutive years, and is one of only 11 properties in North America to maintain the designation since 1976.
What You Will Be Doing- Ensure the highest quality of food, beverage, and service in all banquet areas.
- Lead and train banquet staff to deliver seamless service and consistent standards.
- Coordinate banquet service needs with culinary production teams.
- Maintain effective communication within the department and with other hotel teams to meet guest expectations.
- Control labor, costs, and expenses while operating within budgetary and forecasted guidelines.
- Implement and support hotel operation policies and procedures while working within union contract guidelines.
- Promote a culture of excellence and teamwork within the banquet department.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Food & Beverage leadership.
- Minimum of five (5) years of banquet management experience required, preferably in a luxury hotel.
- High school diploma required; 4-year degree in hospitality or related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of food and beverage financial systems and controls.
- Ability to perform moderately complex calculations such as determining average covers.
- Ability to access and accurately input information using computer systems.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods while touring banquet and event spaces.
- Ability to sit and perform tasks in an office environment.
- Prior experience in a union environment preferred.
