Overview
Position:
Clinical Milieu Supervisor (Bakari Center) — Exciting opportunity to work in a therapeutic milieu environment serving male youth, ages 13-17 at a State-licensed residential care center. The Clinical Milieu Supervisor focuses on supporting youth and guiding staff in creating a positive, motivating treatment milieu. Responsibilities include supervising staff, promoting Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles, fostering staff clinical skill development, providing critical support to staff, teaching and role modeling, staff supervision, and training;
serving as a role model for staff.
- Provide clinical leadership for operations team and serve as a role model for Lead Youth Treatment Specialists and Youth Treatment Specialists.
- Supervise the milieu implementation of therapy by coaching staff on skill use during daily activities, modeling appropriate behavior, teaching and reinforcing skill generalization through a token economy system.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure youth emotional and behavioral health needs are met and that youth treatment specialists carry out treatment plans.
- Provide one-to-one supervision to ensure professional growth and that youth treatment plans are followed; regularly communicate with staff.
- Utilize evidence-based best practices for youth with mental health and substance use needs, including ITM, DBT, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, youth-centered, and culturally reverent approaches.
- Co-facilitate DBT groups and other topics related to healthy relationships, fatherhood, independent living skills, substance use education, and cultural identity development.
- Assist with interviewing and hiring program staff; mediate staff and youth complaints, concerns, and grievances.
- Write and deliver staff performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
- Provide coverage for clinical staff, including individual sessions, group facilitation, and behavior management.
- Lead and participate in staff meetings, shift transition meetings, and program planning sessions to develop engaging activities aligned with goals.
- Provide one-on-one and group coaching to improve roles and responsibilities and address personnel concerns with management.
- Respond calmly in crisis situations and de-escalate using trained methods to maintain safety.
- Contribute to staff training on clinical topics (developmental theories, suicide, mental health diagnoses, substance use, treatment model, etc.) for new hires and ongoing training hours.
- Co-facilitate parent education groups and engage families in programming.
- Participate in QA/QI projects (curriculum review, fidelity measures, performance improvement).
- Fulfill on-call rotation for management and staffing needs, clinical questions, and programmatic needs.
- Interact with youth professionally and therapeutically according to policy and agency values.
- Observe and document youth participation and interactions per program standards in an electronic database.
- Ensure staff comply with Wisconsin licensing and confidentiality requirements and patient rights regulations.
- Maintain youth and family confidentiality in written and verbal communications; adhere to WCS policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications- Master’s degree in social work or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Current state licensure as an Advanced Practice Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or agreement to have minimally training licensure within 90 days of hire.
- Minimum of three (3) years in youth services programming with youth with mental health and substance use needs; at least one (1) year in a clinical, supervisory, or administrative role.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to work respectfully with diverse populations.
- General knowledge of budget concepts and formulation.
