Job Description

This role is field-based; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience. Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage sales performance, effectively manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and place the patient at the center of all efforts while operating within Abb Vie’s business code of conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, marketing objectives, etc. to meet or exceed these objectives.
  • Create pre‑call plan objectives and execute post‑call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance. Effectively handle objections, misunderstandings, concerns and consistently gain logical and reasonable calls to action to close on every sales call.
  • Proactively and continuously serve customer needs, expectations and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win‑win agreements between Abb Vie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs and expectations, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, accounts, disease, product, clinical and sales expertise and share market intelligence with the in‑field team, brand team and sales manager to achieve alignment and anticipate environmental changes.
  • Differentiate Abb Vie’s value proposition with health providers assigned and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business‑related field preferred; or equivalent experience required.
  • Relevant industry experience required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five (5) years with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.
  • In‑depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource by all relevant stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic and critical thinking capabilities, and proficiency with business tools.
  • Quickly adapts to customer style/behavior and develops sales strategies; offers innovative ideas to maximize business opportunities.
  • Effective in a matrix environment; influences others and is a credible role model and resource.
  • Leads by example, displays positive behaviors and coaches peers in challenging environments; documented success in a leadership role with increased responsibility.
  • Preferred:
    Proven sales performance track record in therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account‑based selling, training, managed health care or marketing.
  • English proficiency verbally and in writing (for all non‑English speaking countries).
  • Must satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements for access to facilities and organizations in the assigned territory.
  • Valid driver’s license; able to pass pre‑employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay for this role at the time of posting based on the job grade. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as geographic location and may be modified in the future.
  • Benefits include paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and a 401(k) to eligible employees.
  • Eligibility for short‑term incentive programs.
