Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Sonographer – RDMS (OB/GYN)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
No weekends | No call | No holidays
We are seeking an experienced Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer to join a specialized MFM department within a hospital-based setting. This role requires strong expertise in advanced obstetric ultrasound imaging and direct experience working in Maternal Fetal Medicine
.
- ARDMS (RDMS – OB/GYN)
- Minimum 1 year of Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) sonography experience
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- Perform basic to advanced obstetric ultrasound imaging
, including:- First trimester exams
- Nuchal translucency
- Anatomy and growth studies
- Doppler studies
- Biophysical profiles (BPP)
- Basic fetal echocardiography
- Transvaginal ultrasound
- Portable imaging
- Assist with amniocentesis and chorionic villi sampling (CVS)
- Select appropriate transducers and technical factors, utilizing Doppler, color imaging, M-mode, and real-time imaging
- Apply independent judgment and non-standard imaging techniques as clinically indicated
- Review medical records, physician orders, lab results, and patient history prior to exams
- Communicate effectively with patients to obtain accurate clinical information
- Calibrate, adjust, and maintain ultrasound equipment; report equipment issues as needed
- Participate in quality assurance activities and maintain accurate exam documentation, including billing codes
- Assist with clinical instruction of sonography students, OB/GYN residents, and medical students
- Perform patient positioning and transport duties using proper body mechanics
- Provide age-appropriate patient care in accordance with departmental policies and procedures
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS – OB/GYN) issued by ARDMS
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (AHA)
- Advanced knowledge of fetal abnormalities and their diagnosis
- Proficiency in identifying cross-sectional anatomy and distinguishing normal vs abnormal findings
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams
- Basic computer proficiency, including electronic medical records and email
- Specialized Maternal Fetal Medicine practice
- Consistent weekday schedule with excellent work-life balance
- No weekends, call, or holiday requirements
