Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy, acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. They support pharmacist scheduling gaps under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and Rx District Leader, oversee pharmacy operations, and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Live our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
  • Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator; oversee the pharmacy and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap.
  • Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and directing the team to use safety guardrails at every workstation.
  • Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when acting as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and coaching the pharmacy team to do the same.
  • Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, engaging and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
  • Support effective pharmacy inventory management, especially protecting cold‑chain products.
  • Remain flexible for both scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.
  • Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, seek opportunities to expand knowledge.
  • Support access to care through pharmacist‑delivered clinical services such as testing and prescribing where permissible.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located.
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
  • Immunization Certification through an accredited organization (e.g., APhA).
  • Free of pending felony charges or convictions for criminal offenses involving controlled substances.
Essential Functions
  • Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
  • Attention and Focus:
    • Concentrate on tasks over periods of time.
    • Pivot quickly from one task to another.
    • Confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
  • Customer Service and Team Orientation:
    • Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner.
    • Notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    • Use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues.
    • Utilize active listening, give full attention, ask questions.
  • Mathematical Reasoning:
    • Use math to solve problems such as determining total tablets, day’s supply, etc.
  • Problem Resolution:
    • Identify challenging interactions and choose best course of action.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Mobile and remain upright for extended periods.
    • Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; perform repetitive fine‑motor tasks.
    • Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and/or exert up to 20 lbs of force; frequently lift up to 10 lbs; consistently lift negligible weight.
    • Express or exchange ideas by spoken word; receive detailed oral information.
  • Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
